An area of permanent summer with a sub-tropical climate and exotic vegetation, miles
of glorious soft sand beaches, creeks, dunes and coastal forest. Durban has a fascinating
Indian market and the Durban Botanical Gardens with its famous orchid house are well
worth a visit. Numerous golf courses dotted up and down the north and south coast
of Durban make this area a veritable paradise for golfers giving it it’s enviable
reputation as the golf coast of South Africa.
Inland, is the attractive rolling countryside
of the Natal Midlands and for those interested in history, the famous Rorkes Drift
and Isandlwana battlefields lie within easy reach. Within 2 hours drive from Durban
are the spectacular and beautiful Drakensberg Mountains with peaks soaring to over
12,000 feet. We feature some resorts with a wide range of sporting and leisure activities
including championship golf courses.
To the north of Durban are a number of game reserves
including Phinda, Hluhluwe (pronounced shlooshlooey) and Itala, noted for their rhino
population. Nearby the Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park borders vast tracts of unspoilt
beaches which are the breeding grounds of turtles.
